Bachelor's degree with two years of experience in food preparation activities in commercial operations, along with supervisory experience.
Position Summary
The Catering Manager will work independently managing all aspects of each catered event and will share in the responsibility and accountability for achieving exceptional client satisfaction and financial objectives. The manager will schedule and maintain the commercial kitchens' calendars and will work closely with the Event Coordinators to ensure our food service exceeds the client's expectations. Further, the manager will maintain regulatory compliance of the kitchens by conducting audits, maintaining temperature and HACCP logs, and maintaining current files in order for management to form action plans. Working with vendors, the manager will develop, plan, and budget with clients while identifying menu options that will allow maximum utilization of the equipment and staff. Finally, the manager will work with Conference Coordinators to ensure cost recovery and pricing for food items are correct and will share in the responsibility and accountability for achieving exceptional client satisfaction and financial objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods and practices of food preparation and service
  • Knowledge of hazards to health in food preparation and service and necessary precautionary measures
  • Knowledge of the care and uses of food services equipment and kitchen essentials
  • Ability to supervise employees in routine food service tasks in a manner conducive to full performance while maintaining morale
  • Ability to be flexible in hours worked
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and patrons of the food service unit(s)
Physical Demands
  • Will repeatedly bend and pick up boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing and walking will be a regular part of the position.
  • The work schedule for this position occasionally involves early morning, nights and
    weekend hours.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
Planning, developing, and implementing new methods for services, menu options, programs and processes to effectively and efficiently provide food service for clients.

Communicating effectively with Event Planners, Operations management, outside caterers and the Director of the conference center on all catering/banquet services

Prepare a variety of budget analysis and reports presenting the efficient purchase of food supplies, menu options, and equipment needed for the unit

Schedules and prepares for food service staffing, providing training on the proper way to handle food and UGA's policies and procedures for food services
